way of keeping you informed on our activities. You will
now receive updates on our programs, and you will see how
we are making a difference in the lives of hundreds of children
that have been disabled or displaced by the ongoing war and
terrorism in Colombia.
We
are making news! Today, Colombianitos is highlighted on the
Atlanta
Journal Constitution. We have been recently featured in
Univision,
Telemundo,
HolaHoy,
RCN
Radio, Semana
and CNN,
among others.

VICTIM
OF A TERRORIST ATTACK
Kelly
Johanna , a 17-year-old, was walking in downtown Bogota.
The date was August the 7th, day of the inauguration
of the new President of Colombia. Suddenly, there was
an explosion. It was a rocket missile, part of a terrorist
attack planned against the new President's inaugural
ceremony. Twenty one people died and there were more
than thirty more injured. The blast was very close to
where Kelly was standing and she saw how her left leg
was severely wounded, and how her right leg blew up
right in front of her eyes. Colombianitos is providing
her with a prosthesis for her right leg and all the
necessary rehabilitation.

PROMOTING
EDUCATION THROUGH SPORTS
The
Colombianitos Soccer Club was created in June of 2002,
in Ciudad Bolivar, a violent and poverty-stricken area,
where thousands of displaced children struggle to survive.
The objective of this program is to reduce crime and
drug addiction, and promote education through the use
of sports. It is an initiative that uses soccer's popularity
to help get young people off the streets and into the
classroom.

The displaced children of Ciudad Bolivar
are starting to see the benefits of generous sponsors
that help improve the living conditions of them and
their families. Through sponsorship, donors

OLYMPIC
VILLAGE
Colombianitos is seeking support for
the creation of a sports center, an "Olympic Village"
in Ciudad Boilivar, when we currently operate the Colombianitos
Soccer Club. The program has the participation of profesional
soccer coaches and more than 300 children that live
in absolute poverty.The
project's main objective is to promote education and
reduce crime and drug addiction rates in the area, through
sports activities that motivate and empower this poor
segment of the population and develop athletes and productive
citizens of tomorrow.
