Dear Friends of Colombianitos:
With great enthusiasm we like to share the wonderful progress
of our organization with all of you.
Colombianitos is growing in other cities
in Colombia. With our programs we are benefiting 2000 children
in Ciudad Bolivar, Puerto Tejada, Cartagena, Sincelejo and
500 more Colombianitos coming up in Barbosa, Antioquia. Our
“Goals For a Better Life” program has become the
best tool to fulfill our dreams: to keep little Colombians
in the classrooms and out of the streets.
Our commitment to rehabilitate more children victims of landmines
remains intact: now more than ever since Colombia has ranked
first in the world with the highest number of victims per
year. We are joining efforts with the organization United
for Colombia, represented by the Grammy winning artist Juanes,
to help children walk again.
Many thanks to all our supports, sponsors and volunteers.
You are the ones who make possible the results we are sharing
with you today. You are the ones helping us impact the lives
of many children in a positive way.
Special thanks go to all of the people who in one way or
another participated in our last Bingo on April 29th at the
Atlanta International School. The event was a great success
with wonderful prizes. Seventeen more Colombianitos were sponsored
and we raised over US$25,000.
Thanks again,
A. Patricia Janiot
Goals
for a Better Life Program now in Cartagena
COLOMBIANITOS extends to Cartagena
in 2006 with the Goals For a Better Life
Program, sponsored by FIFA’s Football for Hope program.
The project is situated in a very needy area of the Olaya
Herrera neighborhood. Click
here for more information
The Executive Director of the Foundation and her team traveled
in January to Cartagena to hire and train the local Coordinator
of the Program and the trainers who implemented the program.
Registration for the children between the ages of 6 and 17
began in February of 2006. The children started their training
twice per week on February 27, either in the morning or the
afternoon, depending on their school schedule. On weekends,
they will have the opportunity to participate games and internal
tournaments organized by Colombianitos.
This program’s objective is to impact and improve the
lifestyle of 500 children, keeping them away from drugs, gangs,
and violence and to help to enhance their academic performance.
In February, Colombianitos identified and has improved a
plot of land that was available as a site for a soccer field.
It was in a flood plane, but with the needed drainage system,
Colombianitos has transformed it into a soccer field with
the help of the neighboring community, that has helped in
its cleaning and maintenance. Thirty people participated in
the first cleaning day.

Goals For A Life Better
Life in Cartagena |
Launching the Girl’s Soccer Team
in Puerto Tejada
On February 11, Colombianitos launched the girl’s soccer
team for Goals for a Better Life in Puerto Tejada.
The event was attended by 430 girls and boys who participate
in the program. Two hundred parents and relatives of the children
came to support the girls in this important day.
The inauguration of girl’s soccer in this community
has had great impact and demonstrates that girls also can
be excellent in everything they pursue. The spectators were
surprised with the girls’ high soccer level and abilities
during the soccer games that took place that day.
