The COLOMBIANITOS “Goals for A Better Life” program has won a spot on the shortlist for the Beyond Sport Awards in the UNICEF Children’s Rights category – www.beyondsport.org

The selection was made between more than 265 projects from 80 countries.

One representative from COLOMBIANITOS has been invited including flights and accommodations to the Summit and BEYOND SPORT Award Ceremony that will take place July 7-9 in London.

PEACE AND SPORT, ITTF (International Federation of Table Tennis) and COLOMBIANITOS sign a cooperation agreement.

The PEACE AND SPORT International Organization www.peace-sport.org under the patronage of Prince Alberto II of Monaco will support COLOMBIANITOS with two objectives, the first, to support the integration of Table Tennis through ITTF www.ittf.com as a complement to the “Goals for a Better Life” Program. The “Ping Pong Paz” project will be used as an additional peace and educational tool. The second objective is to support the development of strategies in the fields of fundraising and the search of auto-sustainability

“THE COLOMBIAN CONECTION PROJECT” The project of a Colombian in London to connect foreigners with Colombia and with COLOMBIANITOS

Alan Wagenberg, a Colombian that has lived in London for 11 years created “THE COLOMBIAN CONECTION PROJECT” with the dream of connecting foreigners with Colombia and showing them the positive side of the country. Alan invited 8 foreigners to visit Colombia and to bond with its underprivileged boys and girls making donations to COLOMBIANITOS.

HELPING MIND a socially responsible company chooses COLOMBIANITOS to share part of its proceeds.

Helping Mind® www.helpingmind.com is a socially conscious company established in Miami. It was founded to help finance philanthropic projects through the sale of its products. Four non-profits were chosen to participate and COLOMBIANITOS is among them. The organization will receive a percentage (10%+) from the sale of the Helping Mind products.

Board Members in Atlanta organized the 8th Annual Bingo of COLOMBIANITOS to raise funds for the organization’s program.

On Saturday, April 18th, 2009, COLOMBIANITOS hosted its eighth Bingo Extravaganza to raise funds for underprivileged boys and girls in Colombia. The event was held at the auditorium of the Atlanta International School and it was a great success as in previous years. Thanks to all collaborators and attendees that contributed to the cause, $15,000 dollars were raised.

57 youngsters from “Goals for a Better Life” in Puerto Tejada (Cauca) graduated as coaches, recreational instructors and soccer referees.

In alliance with FUNDACOLOMBIA, 57 youngsters of this program received professional training. During the following year they will work with support from the organization to create a cooperative business and through it obtain contracts with COLOMBIANITOS and other entities. 5 of these youngsters received scholarships from FUNDACOLOMBIA to study technical careers in CONFACAUCA.

“Goals for a Better Life” in Sincelejo celebrated its 3rd Anniversary.

The “Goals for a Better Life Program” in Sincelejo celebrated its third anniversary with the community. For this event, various manifestations were organized: soccer tournament, painting competition, beauty pageant, marathon and other sports activities.

The VOX POPULI group performed in Bogota to benefit COLOMBIANITOS

On Saturday, March 28th, 2009, the VOX POPULI group held a concert donating a percentage of the ticket sales to COLOMBIANITOS. Approximately 200 people enjoyed the repertoire which covered unforgettable songs of the 70‘s and 80’s.
