Colombianitos operates in seven cities in Colombia. It is also, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, with a shadow Board of Directors in Bogota, Colombia that manages Colombianitos’ day-to-day operations.
Colombianitos currently works directly with 4,000 children (indirectly effecting 15,000 people, including children’s families) in seven Colombian communities severely affected by the drug cartels, guerilla warfare, forced displacement and a life in extreme poverty. A few highlights of our accomplishments in the past:
- Provided prostheses, physical & psychological rehabilitation and medical treatment to 36 children who were victims of land mine explosions and provided additional children transportation to Bogota to receive maintenance and a change of prosthesis.
- Ensured the enrollment of 329 boys and girls in school through our Child Sponsorship Plan
- 29 high school graduates; assisted nine individuals with scholarships to enroll in universities.
- Expanded music and dance programs to benefit 616 children in different communities;
- Provided 1,485 families with formative educational workshops and meetings as tools for social development;
- Delivered 127 seminars and workshops to strengthen and reinforce social development life skills
- Provided 150,806 meals to the boys and girls participating in Goals For A Better Life
- Colombianitos introduced two new programs to expand technical training skills for young adults who have participated in our core program, Goals For A Better Life.

Is there a charge for the children to participate in Colombianitos programs?
Colombianitos programs and services are 100% free for participating children and their families. Our only prerequisites to participate in the program: Children are part of very low income families and communities; the children enroll in and attend school - meeting academic requirements to the best of their abilities. 98% of all children currently participating in Colombianitos’ Goals For A Better Life are now enrolled and attend school.

What percentage of income is spent on administration?
92% of all expended resources directly support program activities, with only 8% allocated to administration and/or fund-raising endeavors. Internationally recognized as a trustworthy and well managed organization with transparent financial accountability, Colombianitos holds itself accountable for both efficient stewardship of funds as well as the effectiveness of accomplishing our mission.

How are Colombianitos’ finances managed?
Working with the organization’s Treasurer and Financial Director, Colombianitos’ Board of Trustees authorize an annual budget based on approved projects and programs, as well as reviewing and monitoring all budget expenditures on a bi-monthly basis and evaluating potential expenditures for new needs or projects.
Colombianitos is externally audited in Colombia by Contaudi Asesores. The firm Forrestal, Galeano and Li manages its finances in USA.

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?
Yes. When you donate to Colombianitos in the USA you will receive an official receipt for your tax purposes at the beginning of the year following your donation.
In Colombia, we are also recognized as a non-profit organization. You will receive a donation certificate after every donation by our audit firm Contaudi Asesores.

Does Colombianitos offer financial assistance or grants?
No. Colombianitos does not provide direct financial assistance or grants to its beneficiaries. Colombianitos implements its programs with donations, contributions and they are all free of charge for its participants.
Through the Child Sponsorship Plan, Colombianitos directly pays any schools and/or technical institutes for children to receive additional educational and/or technical training. Colombianitos also works in partnership with universities to provide teachers to work with specific children who may have special needs and/or providing appropriate training in Colombianitos’ computer lab programs.

Is Colombianitos a subsidiary of any other entity?
No. We are legally incorporated in the US and in Colombia as an independent non-profit organization and do not depend on any other entity.

Is Colombianitos a religious-based organization? Does it have any political affiliations?
No on both counts. Colombianitos is dedicated to serving all children and their families (regardless of race, sex, religion or political persuasion) affected by the internal violence, forced displacement and dire poverty in Colombia.

The Board of Trustees in the US and/or Board of Directors in Colombia receive financial or any kind of retribution for the work they do for the organization?
No. All members of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors are volunteers. They do not receive any kind of financial or other type of remuneration for the work they do.
