Colombianitos’ Football School, Goals for a Better Life, was thought as a way to teach children that the most important game they have to win is the one against drugs and crimes. We are using football’s popularity among young to attract them towards playing it and thus keeping them away from unhealthy vices. In order to be part of the program, they have to go to school and comply with all the pedagogical requirements. Children’s participation in the program is totally free of charge.
We also offer them and their families the chance to attend seminars on health and personal hygiene, workshops and educational field trips and many more. Football is a mere tool used to inculcate valuable virtues in these children, to show them how to live a sound healthy life.
The program started in 2002 in Ciudad Bolivar (Bogota) and now it is being carried on in four other Colombian cities. We hope to be able to start Goals for a Better Life in all the poor regions of Colombia.
