2 - Is Colombianitos formally tied to or a subsidiary of any other entity? |

3 - How do you administer the moneys and gifts received? |
The Board of Trustees in Atlanta has to approve where all monies will be spent and how resources will be utilized. Once a project has been approved by the board, our executive director in Bogota will implement it, reporting to the board on a weekly basis funds spent and progress made. The board also receives monthly financial statements where every dollar spent is closely monitored.

4 - How do you select sponsorable children? |
Our executive director in Bogota is in contact with local media and area hospitals to learn of any new children affected by landmines. She is also many times called upon by people who inform her of a situation where Colombianitos can help. Once she has obtained all the necessary information and sees that the case falls within the parameters Colombianitos has established, she contacts the board and informs them of the need. The situation is evaluated further and if the funds are available, the board gives her authorization to proceed with helping the child in need.

5 - If I sponsor a child, am I committed to do so for any amount of time? |
It is entirely up to the Sponsor to decide for how long they would like to sponsor the child. We recommend at least a year, but ideally, the sponsorship will be until the child reaches 18 years of age. Especially in the case of a child with a prosthesis. As the child grows, the prosthesis will have to be replaced at least every two years so that it will fit appropriately and function properly.

6 - Do people living in project communities pay to participate in Colombianitos projects? |
No, our service is free of charge. The only condition that we have for children to be able to use our services is that they be of very low income and in the case of our long-term project of developing the recreational community center, they must be enrolled in a school to be able to participate in the after-school activities.

7 - Do you get funding from any other entity? The Colombian Government? Colombian Relief Agencies? |
Currently all of our funds received are private donations. We do not receive donations from the Colombian Government or any relief agencies. We are currently in conversations with UNESCO to consider possible partnerships and ways of working together.

8 - What percentage of income is spent on administration? Of a $100 donation, how much reaches the children directly? |
A very small percentage of our funds is used for administration. Approximately 5%. The majority of our work is volunteer based and the members of our board of trustees do not receive any remuneration. Of every $100 received, $95 of those dollars go directly to the children in need.

No, we are not paying any facilitating fees to anyone or any agency. That is not in our current or future work plan.

10 - Are you teaching these people "to fish" or are you giving them a fish a day? |
By investing in education, we are teaching "to fish". Education is the tool for any society to progress and be self-sufficient. In addition, by restoring the arm or leg and the self-confidence of a child who has been devastated by an act of war, we are giving them the tools to enable them to be productive citizens.

11 - Why shouldn't I give my money to the Colombian Red Cross? |
Our administrative fees are minimal and your money will reach more children more effectively, than donations made to entities with higher administrative costs. You will see directly where your money is going when donating to Colombianitos.
